First Feeding for Blossoms June 06, 2012

Last night everyone got their first big feed of Indonesian bat guano (from Worms Way - wormsway.com) to support flowers and fruit.

This Rose Beauty's first blossom is a polycarp, meaning that two or more blossoms are conjoined. Old large-fruited varieties often produce huge, lumpy first fruit from these blossoms, which are actually two or more conjoined fruit.

June 06 was 14 days from transplant for this bed, so it'll be another 8 weeks until most of these plants even think about ripening fruit. That makes the dates for first ripe fruit August 08 (70 day fruit like Polish Linguisa) through August 28 (90 day fruit like Butler Skinner).
